2009 Philippine Collegiate championship games

Included in the search for the best collegiate teams in the country are 149 teams belonging to 21 provincial leagues. These teams will compete for the four regional champions’ slots in the 2009 Philippine Collegiate Championship Games.

North/Central Luzon regional championship

The “mother leagues” included in this tournament are the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (Vigan), Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (Baguio), National Private Schools Athletic Association (Pangasinan) and Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (Pampanga).

The champion teams of these leagues will compete for the North/Central Luzon regional championship to be held at Vigan City. The winning team will advance to the next stage of competition, the Luzon-Metro Manila qualifying zonal games.

South Luzon-Bicol region regional championship

The four “mother leagues” participating are Naga Inter-Collegiate, Quezon Province Schools Basketball Association, Legaspi Mayor’s Cup, and Basketball Intercollegiate Championship of Sorsogon.

The champion teams of these leagues will compete for the South Luzon-Bicol regional championship and the winning team will join the Luzon-Metro Manila qualifying zonal games.

Visayas (excluding Cebu) Regional Championship

Six “mother leagues” are participating, namely, Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association, Iloilo Schools Sports Association Inc., Ormoc City School Basketball Championship, Leyte Universities, Schools, and Colleges Athletic Association, Dumaguete Chairman’s Cup and Bohol Basketball League.

The Visayas (excluding Cebu) regional champion will advance to the next level, the VisMin-Metro Manila qualifying zonal games.

Mindanao regional championship

The seven “mother leagues” in this area are: Cagayan de Oro Schools Athletic Association Inc., Cagayan de Oro-Private Schools Athletic Association, Duterte Basketball League - Davao PCCL, PCCL-GenSan City, FBZ Interschool Basketball Tournament (Zamboanga City), Zamboanga-Sibugay Basketball Coaches Association Tournament and Dipolog City Intercollegiate Basketball League.

The Mindanao regional champion will advance to the VisMin-Metro Manila qualifying zonal games.
