MANILA, Philippines – Sky Flakes will soon be sold in Japan after its local manufacturer partnered with a Japanese firm for the distribution of the popular Filipino biscuit.
Monde M.Y. San Corp., a leading local manufacturer of biscuits, recently sealed a deal with Yoshiya Co. Ltd., a wholesaler and retailer of confectionery products in Japan.
“We forwarded samples with the required ingredients and wait(ed) for their approval before we proceed(ed),” explained Monde M.Y. San’s Export Officer Jesusel Santos.
The biscuits manufacturer shipped a full container load of Sky Flakes and M.Y. San Grahams, the chosen products of Yoshiya, Co. Ltd.
“Although the amount of business is still small at this moment, we do hope that their business transaction and good relationship will grow slowly but steadily,” the ASEAN-Japan Centre said.
Monde M.Y. San Corp. is currently exporting to the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The business partnership was an offshoot of a partnership developed during the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines last year.
Last year, the trade show gathered 382 exhibitors registering 1,382 buyers from countries like Japan, China, Australia, Europe, Canada and United States which earned the trade exhibition $83 million in booked and negotiated sales.
IFEX has also been a sour-cing hub for companies such as Hirasho Shoten, Health Co. Ltd., Heuschen Schrouff, Manning Impex, Five Rings, and Wilby Commercial to name a few.
