Pacquiao goes into gas retailing
MANILA, Philippines - Boxing hero Manny Pacquiao has ventured into the gas retailing business in his hometown of Gen. Santos City.
Publicly-listed Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. (PNX) disclosed yesterday that its 100th station is now being run by Pacquiao.
“Mr. Pacquiao’s confidence in the Phoenix brand makes him a true business partner. With him and other dedicated dealer partners with us, PNX will continue to make ‘Phoenix Fuels Life’ an experience within reach of every Filipino,” PNX president and CEO Dennis A. Uy said.
For his part, Pacquiao said he is proud and happy to be a business partner of the Davao-based PNX.
“I was impressed with PNX because in just a short time, they have grown fast. As a Mindanaoan, I am proud of the successes of PNX which is now expanding nationwide. I am confident in the company and its future that’s why I decided to be one of their increasing business partners,” Pacquiao said.
The partnership between PNX and Pacquiao began in 2006 when PNX supported the boxer’s successful fight against Mexican Erik Morales. In December 2008, PNX was again behind Pacquiao as he defeated Oscar dela Hoya.
Aside from being a business partner of PNX, Pacquiao is also the company’s endorser along with popular actress Marian Rivera.
In a span of three years, PNX has built 100 stations. Most are in Mindanao, while
six have opened in Luzon – in Marikina, Zambales, Cabanatuan, Canlubang, Ca-vite and Pangasinan.
