Bankers group to mark 'Training and Development Week'

MANILA, Philippines - The Bankers Institute of the Philippines (BAIPHIL) will celebrate its “BAIPHIL Training and Development Week” on March 9-15, 2009, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1248 declaring the second week of March of every year as such. This year’s theme is “Turning Challenges into Opportunities : The Key to Sustained Growth .”

BAIPHIL president Lydia C. King announced the program of activities for the week-long celebration to be kicked off with an art competition or “art sparks” and culminating with the 25th National Convention to be held on March 13-15, 2009 at John Hay Manor in Baguio City.

During the week, BAIPHIL will hold a Thankgiving Mass to observe the first year anniversary of its BAIPHIL Training Institute (BTI) and conduct seminars to upgrade the skills of its members.

The week-long program confirms BAIPHIL’s commitment to fulfill its mission to provide support to banks by enhancing productivity enhancement through research, information exchange and education, as well as engaging in activities that promote corporate social responsibility.

The national convention is an out of town biennial activity of BAIPHIL by which its members get together to listen to various guest speakers and experts on important topics and issues relevant to the banking industry. The convention also features exhibits by vendors and suppliers who provide vital products and services to banks. Registration for convention delegates is ongoing.
