CitisecOnline sets stock market briefing

MANILA, Philippines - Strategies that have been successfully employed by stock market investors in bear markets will be discussed by senior analysts from CitisecOnline, the leading web-based stockbrokerage firm, in a special briefing for clients tomorrow, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the PSE auditorium of the Philippine Stock Exchange Centre, Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig.

Juanis Barredo and April Tan will present ways to deal with the aftermath of 2008, one of the worst years in global financial history. They expect a phase of consolidation in markets where discipline, patience, and rational investment choices will be amply rewarded over time.

Barredo observes that after the large scale pull back in stock prices in 2008, which hit a low point in October, prices may likely groove sideways for the better part of the year. He suggests that a period of slow rebuilding will follow rather than the general weakness exhibited in 2008. This may offer some trading opportunities as consolidations direct prices to cascade through set ranges.

Tan observes that “the market seems to have bottomed out but recovery may take time. Rallies will not be sustained as macro and earnings outlook remain poor.” She recommends value investing in quality stocks but cautions that “economic condition and corporate profitability need to improve before investors are rewarded.”

CitisecOnline chairman Edward K. Lee will cap the event by drawing from his years of studying the stock market and discussing strategies investors can exploit during periods of consolidation.

CitisecOnline customers may call 6-333-777 to reserve seats for the briefing.
