Asian business expo set at SMX
Find out the how Asian countries will weather the global financial storm in the Asian Business Expo and International Business Summit 2008 (ABEX) to be held Nov. 28-30 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
With the theme, “One Asia for Global Competitiveness,” the expo will gather enterprisers on food and beverage, investment and finance, franchising, dealership, health and beauty, security devices, technology, and transportation and logistics.
According to event organizer Mitch Ballesteros of Ex-Link Management and Marketing Services, Asia is one of the least hit by the financial meltdown and it is likely to recover easier because of the resilient character of Asians.
She said ABEX will be an avenue for promising small and medium business ventures suited for the Asian setting and where Filipinos can excel.
The three-day expo opens on Nov. 28 with the Asian Dances Festival by the Center for Arts Foundation Inc. This will be followed by an input on strengthening the Asian brand through social involvement by Universal Motor Corp. president Elizabeth Lee. The car dealer, the leading distributor of Nissan vehicles, will also showcase its Asenso Negosyo program to highlight the prospects in the lucrative transport industry.
There will also be fora on accreditation for the Asian health care industry and the SME Development Program of the BSMED. To inculcate a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth, the event will also serve as the conference of the Junior Achievers Philippines Inc., an association of college business students.
On Nov. 29, Eversley Ventures managing director Ian Meikle takes center stage with his talk on “Building Better Business with Team Building Strategies”. “Live Battlefield Game,” a unique team-building war-game simulation is also featured onsite in the expo.
Moreover, Google country representative Aileen Apollo will discuss the novel ways on how to harness social networking for leisure and business.
“To show our optimism on the overall business outlook, we will also include presentations from the Accord Capital, a member of the Philippine Stock Exchange on how to make a good investment in the volatile stock market,” Ballesteros added saying that there are firms still doing well in the local bourse.
The event concludes on Nov. 30 with talks on “Robotics Future for Asian Business Development,“ by Felta Multi Media President Mylene Abiva, ‘Nurturing Micro Enterprises,“ by Gavin Bunker, Insol Foundation.
The expo features over hundreds of exhibitors from all over the country and some Asian countries like Taiwan, Korea, China, Malaysia & Hongkong.
