The Shape of Things to Come

- Herbert Y. Magtoto -

There seems no stopping the organizational committee in their painstaking search for the best ways and means to ensure a grandiose and successful show for Topnotch Electronics’ 4th annual exposition project slated on May 17 and 18 at the New Jersey National Guard Armory in Jersey City.

Just last Saturday, Jan. 12, another weekly session transpired and the way things are going, all plans are starting to take shape and this early, the roster of what-to-do is clearly showing signs of progress. Every organizer’s regular session increases in number and brighter ideas wittingly surface… thereby, contributing all the more to the betterment of the project. The number of investors and participating business enterprises is increasing impressively that gives the man-on-the-helm, Mr. Isagani Morales, a heightened enthusiasm and spirited mood.

The last meeting, which minutes was taken by Planet Philippines (NY-NJ) publisher/editor Luis Pedron, unexpectedly brought out more interesting ideas that  gave the plans on the table the much-needed assurance for a sure-fire hit. Every member in the team participates actively in the brainstorming and in collective efforts, they unselfishly contributed whatever is necessary, materially and otherwise.

Initially being eyed to lead the entertainment portion of the Expo are the popular contract stars of GMA Channel 7, who, in the past shows, have regularly contributed and participated in the said event. This year’s committee in entertainment has the Herculean task of surpassing the big turnout of last year’s production numbers. Big stars like Dennis Trillo, Ara Mina and Gladys Guevarra seem like a feat hard to surpass…or even to be at par with, to say the least. There are a lot of talents to choose from but stars of high caliber and with immense popularity are “buried-to-the-neck” with heavy schedules that could prevent them from leaving the country or even be away for just a couple of days. But the EXPO people are optimistic that their contact in the GMA Talent Center will never let them down.  Constant communication is on-going. As a matter of fact, Rachel Ann Wolfe (comebacking former beauty queen now slowly earning a name for herself as a singer like her mom, Annie Brazil, the Philippine’s  exponent of jazz), is Manila-bound to mediate and facilitate a “greasier” process between the two parties.

On hand to help and give PHIL.-US EXPO ‘08 their own share of assistance and support are the most-circulated and well-read papers in the tri-state area as represented by their respective publishers or editors: Herbert Y. Magtoto of the Pinoy Chronicle, John Ynayan of  Newstar Philippines, Lito Gajilan of Filipino Express, Luis Pedron of Planet Philippines, Emmanuel L. Agbanlog of Filipino Times and Asian Review and Manny Quisumbing of  Asian Bulletin.  Automatically, they are contracted as Industrial Partners.   Committed producers are Group Ole, Scat Entertainment, EdSun Entertainment, Miracles Entertainment, ReAl Entertainment, and MP Entertainment.  Perlas Ng Silangan, Sebello Realty, Inc., and Efren Dato are also giving their support.

Another meeting was held at the Fiesta Grill in West Side Ave., Jersey City on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, with the New Jersey Phil-Am Chamber of Commerce. The New Jersey Phil-Am. Chamber of Commerce has likewise pledged its unwavering support.

The Expo promises a more colorful and beneficial show for everyone… with more booths, more spacious parking area, with an active call center, a much wider selection of product commodities on sale, non-stop on-the-stage activities, and a Forum on networking other business professionals to be given by the New Jersey Phil-Am Chamber of Commerce and not to be missed, the much-awaited entertainment portion featuring nothing but only the best in Philippine showbusiness.

Act now for advance booking and mark May 17 and 18 as red-letter-days… for PHIL-US EXPO ’08 is a grand event not to be ignored. If there is but only one memorable show you have to see this year, PHIL-US EXPO ’08 is it. Strategically located at 678 Montgomery St. and Summit Avenue in Jersey City, the New Jersey National Guard Armory is definitely the place to be this early summer for a relaxing, wholesome and worthwhile family weekend.
