Sony expects double digit revenue growth

- Ma. Elisa Osorio  -

Japanese electronics giant Sony expects double digit revenue growth for next year as television sales continue to soar.

“We think we can sustain our double digit growth for the first six months and extend it until the end of the year,” Toshiya Kagita, president and managing director for Sony Philippines Inc. said in an interview.

At the sidelines of yesterday’s launch of the new line of Bravia full high definition LCD TVs, Kagita said television sales make up close to half of the entire Sony sales. This is followed by digital imaging while audio lines ranked third in terms of units sold.

Kagita said Sony remains to be the market leader in home entertainment. The closest competitor is five percent to 10 percent below Sony, Kagita noted.

For the audio visual market, Sony commands 30 percent of the market. With the introduction of the new TV line, Kagita said they are confident television sales will grow more than 200 percent.

For television, Kagita said their closest competitor is Samsung. For camcorders and digital cameras meanwhile, Cannon is second to Sony.

“We owe our continuing success in the market to our dedicated Filipino consumers. Sony believes that our loyal customers deserve the latest innovations in home entertainment, which is why we work hard that these are launched in the Philippine market at just about the same time in other markets,” Kagita said.

Bravia is introducing two expansion LCD televisions, the newest X-Series and W-Series which are loaded with premium technology. Both are full-HD, perfect members of the Sony HD World.

The New X-Series is now considered to be the top-of-the-line Bravia LCD television, which is available in 40", 46", 52", and 70" screen. It uses a superior Bravia Engine PRO that produces high-resolution 1080p images.

It is also equipped with the Sony-developed Motion Flow Technology to reproduce sharper and smooth motion for fast moving subjects.

On the other hand, the W-Series comes in 40", 46", and 52" screens and makes use of the Bravia engine Ex that recreates true-to-life images.

The New X and W-series are available with live color creation technology and x.v.color which utilizes new 10-bit panels that produce natural and smooth graduation, in wider and richer vibrant colors.
