Globe partners with Maxis for Malaysian operations

-
Globe Telecom is now operating in Malaysia via a partnership with a Malaysia-based telecommunications service provider, allowing the Ayala subsidiary to offer its cellular phone services to overseas Filipinos without having to put up its own infrastructure outside the Philippines.

Globe has partnered with Maxis to provide overseas Filipinos with better international long distance (IDD) call rates and more innovative international mobile services.

Globe and Maxis have launched a co-branded SIM, the Hotlink-Kababayan Prepaid SIM, the first and only SIM in Malaysia with services tailor-fit to the needs of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

With the Hotlink-Kababayan SIM, OFWs get to enjoy special IDD rates when calling Globe and Touch Mobile (TM) subscribers through IDD132. The SIM’s IDD call rate of 0.5 Malaysian ringgit per minute is at least 36 percent lower than those offered by other wireless service providers in Malaysia.

The special international SMS rate to Globe and TM subscribers is 0.15 ringgit per text message, which is 25 percent cheaper than that offered by other cellular operators in Malaysia. The new Hotlink-Kababayan SIM also has Pinoy download features such as ringtones, wallpapers and others.

In the Philippines, with Globe’s Tipid IDD offers, Globe and TM subscribers can also call Maxis subscribers in Malaysia at only P7.50 per minute. These special tariff offers make it possible for the OFWs and their loved ones to stay in touch.

"We are proud to partner with Maxis and we are excited to offer this new SIM for the Filipinos in Malaysia. Globe continues to expand its reach and create special packages that will meet the unique needs of the OFWs," Globe wireless consumer business head Ferdinand dela Cruz said.

"We provide overseas Filipinos with convenient and relevant mobile services that will help enrich their lives. We strive to give them the most affordable rates and to offer the best international reloading services so they are constantly connected to their loved ones in the Philippines. Globe is committed to provide the OFWs with the world-widest coverage," Globe’s chief operating advisor Andrew Buay added.

Globe and Maxis launched the new Hotlink-Kababayan SIM in Padang Merdeka in Kota Kinabalu. These two telcos are members of the Bridge Mobile Alliance, the biggest alliance of telecommunications companies in the Asia Pacific region.
