Dell Contact Center Philippines will open a second call center worth P466 million in Eastwood City, Libis following the successful operation of its initial contact center in SM Cyberzone.
Last year, Dell Contact Center invested P366 million for the construction of its Pasay facility which employs an average of 990 contact agents. In 2006, Dell had a net revenue of $55.908 billion with a net income of $3.572 billion.
In a statement, Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Peter B. Favila said the interest of foreign firms to open in the country proves the country is a good business location.
The Dell facility, the inauguration of which was scheduled for today, will be the second call center facility that has opened in the country in this week alone. It can be recalled that early this week Sykes Asia, Inc. inaugurated its Synergis IT Center in Cebu City.
"We are encouraged by the faith of the call center industry in locating their business here in the country. The flurry of business activities in the metropolis is a testament of the country’s drawing power in attracting vital industries that generate meaningful jobs for skilled workers," Favila said.
According to Favila, the new facility will create 200 job opportunities. The Eastwood facility will have an incremental increase of 100 employees a month until it reaches full capacity of 1,500 employees by March 2008.
In addition to this, the call center is expected to generate P1.1 million earnings in exports.
The contact center is a subsidiary of Dell Inc. Previously called Dell Computer Corp., the company is based in Texas and founded by Michael Dell in 1984. Dell is currently ranked No. 25 among the Fortune 500 companies and No.88 in the Fortune Global 500.
Dell is the world’s leading online and direct computer system company. The company which used to sell the brand name "PCs Limited" was the first to legitimize mail order PCs by providing quality telephone support and was the first major manufacturer to pre-load applications selected by customers.
Dell designs, develops, manufactures, markets, sells and supports a wide range of products and services that are customized to customer requirements. These include enterprise systems, printing and imaging systems, software and peripherals, and global information technology and internet infrastructure.
