Samsung expects sales of $350M in RP this year

Koreas Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO) is projecting total sales revenue this year of at least $350 million as it aggressively promotes its various products that ranges from mobile phones, information technology products, appliances and consumer electronics.
Yesterday, Samsung unveiled its white line appliances, specifically its Silver Nano technology refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners.
According to SEPCO vice president for marketing-consumer electronics Dongha Jang, Samsung is aiming for the No. 1 position in the premium appliance segment. Projected sales for its white line alone this year, Jang said, is around $25 million.
Last year, Samsungs white line sales amounted to only $18 million. Projected total sales this year for the white line and audio-visual segment, Jang said, is around $70 million compared to the $40 million in sales revenue earned in 2005.
According to Jang, Samsungs side-by-side two-door refrigerator accounts for 40 percent of the market.
Samsungs premium four-door refrigerator, which boast of a quatro cooling system, is priced at over P189,000, while its seven cubic feet two-door refrigerator is also priced over P16,000.
The bulk of Samsungs total sales revenues comes from mobile phones, currently ranked number two with a 20-percent market share.
Samsung produces locally optical disc drives. It sells consumer electronic products from refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, television sets and mobile phones to IT products that include printers, copiers and scanners, and computer monitors.
Samsung is projecting a 50-percent growth in sales of its information technology products and an overall growth of 35 percent this year.
