SEC launches online research service I-View

After almost a year of delay, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is now ready to offer its online viewing system which would allow the public to search, view and print relevant corporate information and documents for a fee.
Dubbed as SEC I-View, the project forms part of the SECs P160-million computerization project.
The SEC I-View enables the public to gain access to company records and reports filed with the SEC, including audited financial reports, general information statements and periodic reports by listed companies.
The SECs major technology partner for the project is Sun Microsystems Philippines, which, in turn, tapped several other vendors to implement the project.
The system offers various modes of payment. Initially, payment through pre-paid cards is available and other modes will be announced in the future.
All online services are likewise offered at the SEC head office.
SEC I-View is the first phase of the I-Report, which allows the public to view, verify and reserve company names while the company registration system allows the submission and approval of the companys registration documents online.
The I-Report also allows businesses to easily comply with the reportorial requirements of the SEC. It enables businesses to submit online their annual reports, which would include a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and statement of cash flows. The facility would also cover other periodical reports that the SEC may require.
This facility is expected to save a lot of time, effort and cost especially for new companies.
With this system in place, new businesses can complete their registration process in one day instead of going to the SEC several times.
