Dutch import body, DTI to promote RP BPO in Europe

- Marianne V. Go -
The Dutch Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Bureau of Export Trade Promotion (DTI-BETP), is offering an integrated program to promote Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) in Europe.

CBI’s BPO program aims to assist service providers to build and improve marketable capabilities, services, and European market knowledge.

It will also provide knowledge transfer and business information on offshore outsourcing (training, market information marketing, technology trends, processes, project management, competition, etc.).

It will also identify and benchmark strong services providers in the target countries and introduce them to the European market.

The CBI BPO program will also establish an integrated European marketing program for BPO service providers and provide business matching and promotion opportunities.

Laszlo Klucs, senior consultant for information technology of Netherlands-based CBI, recently finished company visits and business meetings with Philippine BPO companies interested in rendering IT-enabled services to European companies.

Klucs was bullish with the potential of the BPO sector in the Philippines, taking note of the wide variety of BPO services and quality of firms.

Klucs has recommended several firms to participate in the program, but the CBI will make the final selection after its assessment of the Philippines, India and South Africa have been concluded.

Companies that will be selected to participate in the BPO program will be provided by CBI with technical assistance, outsourcing audit, and training, and market information on the European Union.

The CBI will also register the selected participants to the EuroITX.com and the EXPRO seminar in Rotterdam.

EuroITX will post the BPO company’s profile and logo, thus giving the pariticipants visibility.

The CBI furthermore will extend co-financing of quality certification and provide assistance in conducting marketing activities in Europe.

The companies that were introduced to Klucs are engaged in a wide array of BPO businesses including digital printing, data conversion/ medical transcription, data processing, medical transcription, financial services (finance and accounting, payroll and benefits administration), animation, data conversion, document imaging, IT outsourcing, digital 3D modeling and imaging and architectural/ construction designs, logistics management, and human resource development.

The BPO program of CBI, according to Trade Undersecretary Thomas Aquino, dovetails with the DTI’s objective to further position the Philippines as a hub for IT-enabled services.
