Bro. Hood
July 29, 2004 | 12:00am
Have you ever wondered where this fancy character, who has a penchant for loud suits, puts the donation of his faithful followers? According to our banking Spy-ring, this Bro. launders his groups money through a bank belonging to a well-known family in business and politics. Our sources said that the bank, which is partly owned by the Bro., put up a remittance company in Hong Kong with some bank executives as incorporators. The bank then tried to hide the ownership by executing a fictitious deed of sale. Investigations made on the company revealed that it already closed its business office in Hong Kong but remains active, its affairs being handled by another Filipino company. The company hasnt been delisted because its Hong Kong bank accounts are being used to transfer the Bro.s millions. Our sources further revealed that the Bro. also overvalued his mortgaged properties to secure a huge loan from the bank, probably in collusion with his son who sits in the board. Such an arrangement reminds us of the gangsters in the Frank Sinatra movie "Robin and the Seven Hoods".
The fight for control of key committees at the House of Representatives is heating up, with 14 pro-administration Congressmen openly declaring support for the appointment of Negros Oriental Rep. Herminio Teves as chair of the powerful Ways and Means Committee. A statement released by the group, led by Representatives Eduardo Gullas, Antonio Cuenco, Simeon Kintanar, Clavel Martinez, and Jose Durano, said that Teves deserves to be the chairman because his qualifications are unmatched by any other candidate. The group also pointed out Teves expertise in revenue related concerns, even citing Executive Secretary Romulos commendation of Teves when he led a special task force that identified weaknesses in the tax regime and gave viable approaches to expanding the governments revenue base. "We are convinced Congressman Teves is in the best position to help the President quickly achieve a balanced budget and carve a legacy that would distinguish her from previous chief executives," the group said.
A hot-blooded Southern congressman appears to have suddenly become religious, regularly visiting a parish priest in an upscale QC subdivision. But according to our Eye-spy, the visits have nothing to do with confession or spiritual enlightenment but for advice on how he could have his marriage annulled. You see, Congressman Omega Man is reportedly so in love with this PR consultant that he is actually ready to chuck his marriage for her. Unfortunately for him, the rich wife got wind of the Congressmans plan and threatened to take away their children and cut off his hefty allowance if he pushes through with his plan. Seems the Omega man saw the light because he stopped visiting the parish priest but not Miss PR Consultant. What the Congressman doesnt know is that this PR Jezebel is also secretly seeing an Ilocos RTC judge on the side, their relationship dating back to as far back as 1999. In fact, Jezebel has a condo unit in Pasig courtesy of the judge, which doubles as their lovenest. More on this tale next time.
A reader was on her way home via Greenhills when she was abruptly cut by a large car and an L-300 van that acted like some sort of back-up/security vehicle, flashing its hazard lights. The two vehicles were reportedly weaving in and out of traffic like crazy, disregarding the danger that they were posing to other vehicles. Irritated, the reader followed the two cars to find out who the VIP was and where the cars were going. Imagine the readers surprise when the two cars stopped at the Greenhills Shopping Center and out came hairdresser-cum-fashion designer FS. Whatever the emergency was, be it a call of nature or the call of a boyfriend, other reckless escort.
