Pasig RDO posts significant growth in revenue collection

-
The Revenue District Office of Pasig City continues to post significant growth in terms of revenue collection.

For the period January-April 2004, the increase in revenue collection reached an all-time high of P706 million or 19.11 percent higher than that for the same period last year. For the month of April 2004, the increase in collection was P532 million or 39.9 percent higher compared to April of 2003.

Since his assumption as revenue district officer of RDO 43-Pasig last June 2003, Raul Recto has pursued various initiatives focusing mainly on educating and assisting taxpayers in the district. Weekly dialogues are held with different groups of taxpayers, such as: the top 1000 taxpayers, by industry, those with no payment in the income/VAT returns, with letters-notices, those with drastic decrease in monthly remittance on VAT and withholding tax, those with continues excess input tax carryover for more than one year and those newly registered taxpayers. Effective gathering and handling of third party information were also given due emphasis under Rectoís leadership.

To further boost revenue collection, Internal Revenue Commissioner Guillermo Parayno Jr. came up with the project ìCentennial Taxpayers Recognition Programî (CTRP) whereby taxpayers are required to increase their actual tax payments by a bigger percentage as compared to their tax payment last year. Qualified taxpayers availing themselves of this program will be honored during the centennial anniversary of the BIR on Aug. 1, 2004 and will be granted certain privileges and benefits in the form of protection of last priority in audit and investigation in all taxes for the taxable year 2003.
