DWIZ helps BIR drive

-
Radio station DWIZ has tied up with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for a public service program aimed at helping the revenue agency achieve its tax collection efforts.

Dubbed "Mr. Taxman," the public service program will air from 10-11 a.m. every Saturday starting tomorrow, Feb. 14, to tackle all tax issues. Listeners can also ask questions on their tax problems.

BIR officials who will man the hour-long program include BIR Regional Director Anselmo Adriano, ARDO-Pasay Luis Alberto Jr. and BIR Data Center Regional Director Gerry Flores.

The agreement for the airing of the ‘Mr. Taxman’ program was signed by Aliw Broadcasting Corp. president J. Antonio A. Cabangon, DWIZ station manager Rey Langit and general manager Willie Tayag and BIR officials Alberto, Flores and Adriano.

The tax information dissemination is part of Internal Revenue Commissioner Guillermo Parayno’s efforts to reach a wider audience and thereby hike tax collection efforts.

Last year, the BIR exceeded its 2003 collection goal by P260 million at P424.27 billion boosted by the P35.68 billion December collections which is P1.1 billion higher than its target for the month.

DWIZ is part of the ALC Group of Companies headed by Philippine Ambassador to Laos, businessman Antonio Cabangon-Chua.
