GMA-7 named among leading RP firms by FEER

-
GMA Network, Inc. was named one of the 10 leading Philippine companies by the Far Eastern Economic Review (FEER) for 2003, and took the highest honors for a broadcast company in Asia this year and in the country for the second year in a row.

The broadcast giant once again joined the elite group of Review 200 Asian companies and improved its overall ranking to 9th place after placing 10th in 2002. Rival network ABS-CBN, which failed to make it to the list last year, also managed to enter this year’s elite circle at 10th place behind GMA Network.

GMA Network also made it to the top five in the sub-categories of the survey conducted by the FEER this year and improved its ranking. The network ranked 5th in Innovative In Responding To Customer Needs after placing 6th last year and 5th in Long-Term Vision after placing 8th last year.

GMA officials said this year’s honors epitomize the network’s sturdy efforts to improve its programming as it renewed its commitment to be the No. 1 broadcast company since chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon took over the network’s management towards the end of 2000.

They noted that GMA Network has since introduced positive changes within the company that has improved efficiencies in its operations. In 2002, GMA registered a higher net income than its biggest rival and expects to do the same in 2003 after posting record-breaking sales last year.

They added that the network continues to close the gap in terms of program ratings and has already equaled its rival in total-day ratings twice this year, in April and November. With its continuously improving and innovative programs, GMA expects to carry on with its strong ratings performance next year. – Mary Ann Reyes
