Bottling throwaway coconut water
October 18, 2003 | 12:00am
Did you know 1: The throwaway coconut water used in processing nata de coco at one time, a health food fad in Japan has been bottled and is being marketed to cancer patients.
Yes, the throwaway coconut water carries some sort of fungus or bacteria, which causes it to coagulate into nata de coco and, in the process, enhances the human bodys ability to heal itself.
Did you know 2: Cravings Group president Susana Guerrero swears by vermin-soil (or soil aerated by earthworms) for her laurel and kaffir lime trees.
Annie Guerrero celebrated her birthday and the 15th anniversary of her company yesterday.
Did you know 3: Agriculture Secretary Luis Lorenzo Jr. is said to be terribly excited about this technology which converts chicken feathers into a liquid fertilizer and processed further, into a feed meal for fish, pigs, and chicken.
Developed by Pililla Poultry Processing Plant, Inc., which is headed by Rodolfo Paralejo, the technology uses an enzyme that has a higher digestibility rate than any imported product while costing at least a third less.
Now that Associated Broadcasting Corp. (Channel 5) has changed majority ownership from Edward Tan to the group of Antonio Cojuanco, the market is closely watching SBN, which includes among its current stockholders Bomboy Araneta and Lucio Co.
Whatever action here is expected to be completed before the year ends.
Equally interesting is the ensuing race between Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. majority stockholder Alfonso Yuchengco Jr. and Banco de Oro Universal Bank majority stockholder Henry Sy for the controlling stake in China Banking Corp.
Uh, dont expect Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. president Robin Sy to arbitrate the dispute. Both Messrs. Yuchengco and Sy are not members of the federation.
The dispute also puts Chinabank president Peter Dee, a son-in-law of Mr. Yuchangco, in an awkward position.
Cartoon Network is currently working out something with McCann Erickson and its Jollibee Food Corp. account.
As everybody knows, JFC president Tony Tan Caktiong has opted to split the companys advertising business. Basic Advertising pushes the products while McCann handles corporate and the kids.
Heres hint, though. JFC marketing manager Carolina Inez Reyes who looks like a kid herself wants to build up the companys properties other than, of course, Jolly Bee.
By the way, Cartoon Network will be premiering next month the animated transition episodes between the "Star Wars" 2 and 3 movies. The point man here (aside from the movie writer, director, and producer George Lucas, of course,) is the guy behind the cartoon, "Samurai Jack."
