BOC gets offer to modernize its inspection system

The exclusive Philippine distributor of the most technologically advanced inspection and X-ray systems has expressed interest in financing and operating at least five trucks of mobilesearch for the modernization program of the Bureau of Customs (BoC).

The A.T. Intergrouppe Inc., the sole representative for American Science and Engineering Inc. (AS&E) in the country, informed Customs Commissioner Antonio Bernardo that they are willing to supply their products through the build-operate-transfer (BOT) variant scheme or any procurement scheme authorized by law.

In a demonstration of their products, Albert Tan, president of A.T. Intergroupe, told Bernardo that their method of acquisition will alleviate the burden of financing from the side of the BOC and allow for a smooth and swift modernization project.

With applications at ports and borders, military bases, government and commercial facilities, and airports, AS&E inspection systems are in use worldwide to enhance security measures and combat cargo crime.
