Yet, pilferage, when perpetrated frequently involving highly precious inventory, will sum up into huge losses that can bring the business down, especially if it depends a lot on borrowed capital.
This misfortune happens when it takes the business owner too long to discover the crime. And it always does because hardly anybody conducts an inventory of his goods on a daily basis.
Its in-between these periodic inventories that the theft is often committed unnoticed, simply because the culprit has successfully breached the security system, or opened the locks and put them back in place right after the felony.
Oftentimes, its an "inside job," with the thief having been able to duplicate the locks keys or even the master key to all the storage rooms.
This is the usual case in the Philippines, where anybody who gets hold of somebody elses key can just go to any locksmith and have it duplicated without any questions asked about its ownership.
This problem has been addressed in Israel, which is known worldwide for its security technology. That country has devised a new lock system that guarantees optimum security while enhancing the aesthetic design of various types of doors in commercial establishments, offices and residential houses, including warehouses and other storage facilities.
"Called Mul-T-Lock, this high-security system is very different from the traditional lock and key that most people are familiar with," said one of its many prominent and prestigious users who declined, to be identified.
"Mul-T-Lock uses high-security cylinders that cannot be picked or easily destroyed. It is equipped with sophisticated keys that cannot be duplicated without owners authorization," she explained.
This is made possible by a special ATM-like key card that identifies ownership and must be presented to any authorized key center before the keys can duplicated. Restrictive key duplication procedures are strictly followed worldwide to prevent the unauthorized duplication of keys.
Exclusively distributed locally by Felport International Marketing (tel. 7215498, 7229011, 7273862) Mul-T-Lock is so high tech that this system allows the use of single key for practically everything from padlocks, doorknobs and rimlocks to cabinet locks, doors, safes and many more, without compromise.
It is the type of system "master" keying that enables the owner to control his security. For example, the store managers key can open only the locks in the store. The same is true with the warehouse manager and the office manager, who can open only the locks in their specific areas of responsibility, but the business owner has access to all the three facilities, including all the rooms in his house, using a single master key.
