This was announced yesterday by PFA chairman Samie Lim and president Bing Limjoco who will be leading the franchise delegation that will attend Franchise Asia 2003 in China starting Aug. 27.
A first in Asia with the Philippines as the only country offering the course outside of US, the course is offered by PFA for franchise leaders and executives in the Asian region under the sanction of the US-based Institute of Certified Franchise Executives (ICFE). The ICFE offers a substantive mastery of franchising to successful candidates and confers the title of Certified Franchise Executive (CFE). This year, Module II will be presented by franchise guru Charles Weeks, founder of the Florida-based Weeks International Interprises who helped develop various international businesses such as A & W, All American Food, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Popeye’s, Cinnabon, WesterN SizzliN Steak, Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Frito Lay, to name a few.
To be presented at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on Sept. 9 to 10, Module II will provide lectures on Franchising, the Management Relationship Aspect, Positioning Your Franchise system for Expansion, Exporting Your Franchise System, to name a few. Module I was presented last year also in time for the 10th PIFCE.
Franchisors awarded a CFE title are expected to reap important benefits like distinct industry recognition and standing, expanded knowhow in every aspect of franchising and peer-level networking.
To attain a CFE designation, candidates must earn the requirement minimum 3,500 credits which could be acquired in four major areas: core curriculum (1,600 credits), elective curriculum (900 credits), participation in franchise events (500 credits) and experience (500 credits).
Participants to this year’s 11th Philippine International Franchise Expo (PIFCE) on Sept. 11 to14 automatically earn 500 credits. Participants who complete the course of study and meet all the requirements of the ICFE program will be recommended by the PFA for the CFE title by the ICFE board of governors in the US.
