BancNet awards project to ePLDT

BancNet, the Philippines’ leading electronic network for financial and banking services, has awarded its disaster recovery and business continuity project to ePLDT, the information and communications technology arm of telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT).

Banking on its synergy with PLDT, ePLDT, through its own Vitro Data Center, will provide complete, reliable and scalable business continuity services to BancNet.

With Vitro, BancNet expects to further its strategies to provide convenient, reliable and secured delivery of services for customers and partners alike.

Recently going online, BancNet offers banking transactions in real-time, including payment gateway services, account balance inquiry and fund transfers, aside from its established automated teller machine (ATM) services, marking an advancement in the banking and financial services industry in the Philippines.

Based on latest figures, BancNet averages about 300,000 transactions daily, servicing over 11 million cardholders and 34 member banks nationwide, including MegaLink member banks.

BancNet wants to ensure the round-the-clock availability of its mission-critical applications to guarantee fulfillment of these transactions. The Vitro Data Center’s disaster recovery facility will allow BancNet to meet this business objective.

"Vitro provides the best solution in terms of computer and communication facilities, site-security, after-sales support and total cost," Aristeo Zafra, Jr., BancNet senior vice-president and chief operating officer noted.

"It has always been ePLDT’s long-term commitment to be a reliable and flexible partner for all businesses, and for BancNet in this particular instance," Ray Espinosa, ePLDT president said. "We capitalize on our resources to deliver the best possible solution for BancNet’s needs."

Vitro Data Center serves as BancNet’s alternate production site. Vitro simulates an environment similar to BancNet’s actual production data center set-up, thereby enabling BancNet to seamlessly transfer operations and perform regular business operations during disaster.
