Landco Pacific invests in Fil-Barcelo

Upscale real estate develor Landco Pacific Corp. has invested in Fil-Barcelo Hotels and Properties Management Co., the Philippine licensee of the Spain-based hotel management company Barcelo Hotels and Resorts, in line with efforts to seize promising opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industries.

Fil-Barcelo presently manages the Taal Vista Lodge in Tagaytay, the Pearl Farm Island Hotel in Davao, the Sarabia Hotel in Iloilo, the Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and the Eagle Point Hotel in Anilao, Batangas.

The investment forms part of Landco’s plan to become a significant player in the service sector. Landco is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Corp.,the local flagship of the First Pacific Group of Hongkong.

Along with Roxaco Land Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary and property development arm of Roxas & Co., Landco invested in the international management company. Both companies have committed to adapt the appropriate technology and skills required to profitably operate hotel and resort properties along international standards.

Fil-Barcelo holds the Philippine and Asian trademarks to use the Barcelo quality standards in its hotel and resort operations including its advanced reservation and property management systems, sales networks, promotions and manuals, policies and procedures.

It plans to manage other hotels in various parts of the country and eventually in other parts of Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia and China.

Located in Palma de Majorca, Spain, Barcelo Hotels and Resorts operates hotel and resort properties in Europe, North and South America as well as the Philippines.
