HUDCC, SHDA slate national developers convention

The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association, Inc. (SHDA), the countrys largest and leading organization of subdivision and housing developers is holding its annual developers convention on June 17-18, 2003 at the Rizal Ballroom, Makati Shangri-La.
SHDA national president Jesus B. Atencio announced that "SHDA has continued to be at the forefront of issues and concerns of developers and has been acknowledged as a partner of the government in addressing the countrys housing need." As such, SHDA holds its national convention in coordination with the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council the governments agency in charge of implementation of housing and urban development policies and programs."
Atencio added that "as an offshoot of the successful convention last year, SHDA has adopted the theme Moving Beyond! Going Global! Responding to the challenges and opportunities in 2003. President Arroyo was invitged to grace the occasion to deliver her message and announce important policies and new developments in the housing sector.
Lawyer Teofisto Guingona III, SHDA chairman, said that the activity is an important event for the housing industry since it brings together practitioners in the housing industry both from the government and private sector. The convention provides a venue for discussion of advocates and programs all aimed at improving shelter delivery and the attainment of providing decent and affordalbe housing, Guingona said."
Marilu Alferez, SHDA vice-president and over-all convention chairperson, noted that SHDA has lined up several and interesting modules during the two day convention: among the module to be discussed are: Global Outlook and the Philippines Point Programs for Economic Reforms, Global Trends and Revolutionary Ideas, Urban Revitalization and Inner City Housing, Governments Policies and Strategies on Globalization and International Competitiveness, Developmental and End-User Finance, Fast Tracking the Mass Housing via Legislation, The Future of the Overseas Market, Recent Tax Impositions Affecting the Housing Business, Special Purpose Asset Vehicle, Housing Bond as an Alternate to 20 percent Balanced Housing Requirement, Success Principles and Living it and Assessment Report on the Delivery of the SHDA pledge 200,000 to President Arroyo, Alferez added.
The convention is open to all practitioners in the housing industry developers, contractors, realtors and brokers, bankers, housing finance institutions, government housing agencies, planners, architects, engineers and other allied industries.
