Mitsubishi Motors Philippines launched yesterday the new 2003 Space Gear, aimed at boosting its position in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment.
MMPC president and CEO Teruhiko Shibata said "the addition of the new 2003 Space Gear in our line up now complements our LCV model line up. WE are now positioned to further improve our market share especially in the passenger van segment."
Besides bearing the Mitsubishi brand, the new 2003 Space Gear features significant improvements in its exterior and interior appointments making it the ideal family van. On exterior features, it was given a new personality with its new front face, highlighted by the new grille and new headlamp design which give the Space Gear a refined and elegant look. New rear combination headlamps as well as new front and rear bumpers also complement the Space Gears fresh and modern styling.
The new Space Gear incorporates a new high roof design for improved interior headroom. Dual sliding doors are now also standard for convenience and easy access. It can be noted that Mitsubishi pioneered the dual sliding door concept in its L300 vans.
Balance of power and economy is also achieved as the new Space Gear is equipped with a new 2.4 liter 4G64 multi-point injected 16-valve engine. The new engine is appropriately matched to a smooth shifting electronically controlled 4-speed automatic with overdrive.
The Space Gears level of comfort was also improved. The van rides on front double wishbone and 5-link coil spring rear suspensions with stabilizer bars, providing enhanced riding comfort. Seats were improved considerably to provide a more relaxing ride for both driver and passengers.
Power features are also standard such as power windows, door locks, and power side mirrors.
And in order to entertain passengers during long journeys or just coping with the Manila traffic, the new Space Gear is equipped with a huge 10.4 inch LCD monitor, which is so far the biggest video monitor equipped in a vehicle. It is supported by the Mitsubishi Motors Video Entertainment System (MMVES) which features a Kenwood single in-dash CD/VCD player and 4 speaker system which provide clear, crisp and hi-fidelity surround system. Meanwhile, glass printed antenna on the rear quarter glass of the Space Gear supports AM and FM stereo reception.
Other amenities for the new Space Gear include the Mitsubishi Motors Auto Security (MMAS) system which comes with alarm, keyless entry and engine immobilizer feature, rear underview mirror which aids the driver when backing up, rear accessory socket for portable equipment, rear intermittent wiper with washer, and full all-around standard matting.
The new 2003 Mitsubishi Space Gear, is available at all dealerships nationwide and is priced at P1.09 million.
