Petron receives Gold Quill awards

-
Three of Petron’s corporate programs were once again recognized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Philippines) in the 2003 Philippine Gold Quill Awards Night held recently at Greenbelt, Makati.

Petron Foundation’s Tulong Aral ng Petron and Petron Foundation Website received two excellence awards while the 2003 Petron Kids’ Summer Camp garnered an award of merit. These awards put a seal of excellence in the company’s program that show the continuing volunteerism work of Petron employees and its partners, as well as the company’s social responsibility efforts and public service.

Tulong Aral ng Petron has sent 1,000 children from marginalized families to 90 public elementary schools in Metro Manila. The Petron Kids’ Summer Camp gave 103 children of Petron employees an opportunity to have an educational yet enjoyable experience away from home and spend quality moments with their parents. The Petron Foundation website meanwhile exemplified how modern, cyberspace-based technology can be utilized to make the public aware of the Foundation and its various programs on social development.

Petron’s three-award haul follows its success in the 1st Philippine Gold Quill, where it also received Awards of Excellence for its corporate programs.

On hand to receive the awards were VP for finance and subsidiaries Antonio Pelayo, VP for corporate planning Ziyad Al-Shiha, VP for refinery Al Trio, corporate secretary Libby Villegas, HRM manager Cristina Menorca, Petron Foundation executive director Marilou Erni, and DSWD-NCR chief of technical services Malou Rosado.
