Mactan Island is Toyota Revos favorite launch site
December 13, 2002 | 12:00am
It was like a rewind of video footage of four years ago when the first Toyota Tamaraw FX Revo was unveiled to the local market with the Cebu Shangri-La Hotel as the setting as motoring journalists and other media practitioners were also flown in from Manila to Mactan Islands premier hotel recently for the launching of the new Toyota Revo.
It was indeed an exciting and thrill-filled weekend for the members of the "Fourth Estate" starting with a fun golf tournament at the Cebu Country Club for those who were willing to take the early Saturday morning flight out of Manila. Although The STAR sports editor Lito Tacujan had a bagful of trophies on his return trip, it was RBNs Ricky Alegre who finally ended with the championship trophy.
As always, TMPC, Toyota Motor Philippines Corp., the ever gracious hosts made sure that fine food (rock lobsters and oversized prawns to name some) and expensive spirits (XO was flowing together with "Blacks and red wine) wer not for the asking they were there all the time.
In his welcoming speech, TMPCs president, Mr. Nabuharu Tabata, thanked the members of the media for the support they have given in helping Toyota stay as the leader in the local automotive industry. Toyotas first vp, Alfred Ty, who came together with charming wife Cherry (son and daughter of business tycoons Mr. George Ty and Mr. Lucio Tan) proudly assisted in unveiling the new models for the broadcast and print journalists.
There was no chance for the invited journalists to ask for anything as the "Toyota gang of media spoilers" led by marketing top honcho Danny Isla, together with Raymond Rodriguez, Jing Atienza and of course perennial emcee Ariel de Jesus made sure that everything for their convenience, comfort and excitement was thought of and readily available.
