GSIS now using Phoenix system

In partnership with Unisys, SQL*Wizard, Inc., the leading business solutions partner of Oracle, has started the implementation of Phoenix General Insurance System which will automate the processing of non-life insurance transactions of the Government Service Insurance System or GSIS.

This is part of the ongoing campaign of the GSIS to upgrade the government financial institution’s information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure. Heading the computerization project is GSIS senior vice-president for Information Technology Services Group Benjamin Vivas, Jr.

"We are happy to note that the upgrading of the ICT enjoys the full support of the GSIS board of trustees led by GSIS president and general manager Winston Garcia," Vivas remarked.

General insurance transactions of the GSIS are among the heaviest in the country as it services majority of the government’s and government-owned agencies’ requirements as well as the reinsurance requirements of private firms.

Because of GSIS’ unique requirements, Unisys and SQL*Wizard are putting in place a customized system for the GSIS using the various modules of the Phoenix System.

The Phoenix system was developed using Oracle technology. This makes the product adaptable to different types of hardware platforms and implementation architectures. It is now widely used among non-life insurance companies for their policy issuance, underwriting, reinsurance, claims, accounting, cashiering, budget management and business intelligence.
