Mobile commerce (m-commerce) has been gaining ground with the countrys leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), through its award-winning Smart Money electronic cash and mobile banking services.
And with its recently launched 64K Super SIM (subscriber identification module), Smarts enhanced services are seen to further boost the m-commerce industry, where the user is able to make purchases and conduct banking transactions using the mobile phone.
"Five years from now, the use and acceptance of m-commerce by Filipinos will be as common as the Internet and the ATM (automated teller machine) card," said Alex Ibasco, group head for mobile commerce services at Smart. "With todays 10 million plus GSM (global systems for mobile communications) cellular subscribers, of which seven million are Smart network users, there is a very big market for mobile commerce," he added.
The versatile, award winning Smart Money card is the first and only reloadable cash card linked to a mobile phone. Even with a lower-memory SIM, the services already allows the user to conveniently purchase items in over 20,000 MasterCard Electronic and Smart Money affiliated establishments; reload airtime to any Smart Buddy pre-paid cellular phone over the air (no ATM required); transfer funds from one Smart Money card to another; and make secure remote purchases without physically being at the store.
With the higher-memory 64K Super SIM card launched recently, its capabilities have been further enhanced.
64K Super SIM users can now create and manage their own list of frequently reloaded cellular phone numbers, Smart Money cards and bill accounts. Performing m-commerce transactions become just as easy as using ones phonebook no need to remember telephone numbers, card numbers, and bill account numbers.
