Limech Garments Mfg. Corp., one of Taiwans top garments firm and top supplier for famous name brands like Adidas, K-Mart, Walmart, AMC and Penguin, will lease 7,500 square meters inside the Taiwanese Industrial Park which is managed by the Subic Bay Development Management Corp. (SBDMC).
According to Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Felicito Payumo, Limechs decision to invest in the freeport will provide more jobs and attract other businesses to also set up shop in Subic.
Sammy Chou, Limech president, said the decision to invest in Subic was due to its proximity to Manila and the availability of an excellent workforce.
Chou said: "We look forward to opening here. Our decision to come here is because of the good workforce, the nearness to Manila, the excellent security and living conditions it offers."
SBDMC vice president Sean Chen noted that more and more companies are looking at the freeport because of its attractive incentives.
Limech is expected to employ an initial 800 workers, rising to 2,000 workers when the company goes into full operation.
Construction for Limechs new plant will start Aug. 21 and will take at least six months to complete.
