Petron Foundation, the socio-civic arm of Petron Corp., a key player in the local oil industry, has captured two International Gold Quill Awards conferred by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) on June 10 in Chicago. Petron Foundation director Marilou G. Erni cited the awards as "testimony for our continuing tradition of excellence in undertaking social outreach endeavors." Petron Foundation bagged a Gold Quill Excellence Award for Volunteerism in action (VIA), a communication management program which institutionalized employee volunteerism throughout Petron Corp.
The foundation, along with the provincial government of Bataan, also capped a Gold Quill Award of Merit for its Kontra-kalat sa Dagat (Movement Against Sea Littering), a three-year-old environmental project anchored on a long-term integrated coastal management program for the province.
"This is an extraordinary achievement for our corporate social responsibility programs," Erni said. "Through the Volunteerism in Action (VIA) we have been able to establish partnership with our own people in Petron Corp., as well as other sectors of society, to encourage them to share their time, talent and efforts in the pursuit of cause-oriented projects."
Petron Foundation was one of only three entries from the Philippines to have won in this years competition.
Other competitors came from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland and the United States.
