Fisheries congress starts today

What is the current state of the global and Philippine shrimp industry?
The answer to this and related questions will be discussed at the Third National Shrimp Congress to be held on July 2-4 at the Bacolod Convention Center in Bacolod City.
The three-day congress will be held under the auspices of the Philippine Shrimp Industry Federation (Philshrimp).
Organizers and supporters are the Philshrimp through the Negros Prawn Producers Marketing, Inc. (NPPMCI), Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), and the government-hosted Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Dr. Rolando R. Platon, SEAFDEC AQD chief, will deliver the opening message. Trade and Industry Secretary Mar Roxas III will be the guest speaker at the luncheon meeting on July 3.
Country reports from Australia, Japan, Thailand, Hawaii, and the European Union and scientific reports will also be presented. RAF
