STI to open schools for global professionals

The STI Education Services Group (STI ESG) has unveiled plans to open schools that would provide ICT-based education for high-demand professional courses in the fields of nursing and health services, accountancy, education and engineering.

The school of nursing, a partnership between STI ESG and the De Los Santos College, Inc. is the first in this series of professional schools that the company plans to operate by next year. The program will train a new breed of Filipino nurses and physical therapists in the latest technology in health services.

According to STI ESG president and chief executive officer Dr. Chito Salazar, "with technology being the main driver in today’s knowledge economy, STI will continue to develop new courses infused with ICT learning that will answer global demands for professionals who have proficient ICT skills. We have great faith in the Filipino workers drive for excellence. With the proper training in new technologies, our countrymen will be able to compete with the best in the world."

With the growth of medical transcription in the United States, for instance, nurses increasingly need to have computer skills in order to chart or enter their patient’s vital information into databases.

Independent studies have also proven the effectiveness of using Internet-based communications to monitor the daily self-care needs and progress of patients with physical disabilities.

STI Education Services Group continues to lead in specialized ICT-centered education. Established in 1983, STI offers customized ICT learning for different market segments, from pre-school to basic higher education to professional learning. Last year, the company launched the STI-e-College which offers online learning and the iAcademy, a partnership with UDS based Carnegie Technology Institute. The company also continues to expand its 110 schools in the Philippines and abroad with the opening of its Bangladesh and Pakistan campuses this year.
