FPIP sought the assistance of PLDT in satisfying the need of its locators for high-capacity and reliable telecommunications and data networks for their demanding operations.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was recently signed to formalize as well as expedite the provision of such services to FPIP in the municipality of Tanauan in the province of Batangas.
PLDT senior vice president for corporate business group Alfredo S. Panlilio said this was also a great opportunity for both companies to attract more companies to locate in the park and thereby bring into the country the much-needed investments and provide employment for many Filipinos.
"Even though some locators may not mind the price, PLDT offers them very cost-effective and competitive rates. Our commitment to quality service is already a given. We hope with our reliable and high-capacity communications networks, we would help locators do business much more efficiently," he said.
"Many locators rely on efficient and reliable communications networks in their operations. Every minute counts. Providing these needed networks can thereby help the Philippines become a more attractive investment site in the region," he added.
The deal involves the provision of telecommunications and data services to approximately 240 hectares in the Tanauan side of the park.
FPIP president Hector Y. Dimacali said FPIP has always been committed to innovation in order to help locators maximize their local operations.
"With this agreement with PLDT, we help our locators avail of solutions never before available to them. This will bring down costs for them in the long run and eventually redound to the benefit of the local economy through additional foreign investments and employment opportunities," he said.
FPIP is a 315-hectare special economic zone located around 50 kilometers south of Metro Manila in the municipalities of Sto. Tomas and Tanauan, Batangas. In addition to selling land, it is also into leasing of ready-built factories.
