The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) are now accepting nominees for this years search for the countrys "Outstanding Filipino Retailers 2002."
Now on its sixth year, the search for Outstanding Filipino Retailers is a joint project of the PRA and DTI. The award seeks to encourage Filipino retailers to adopt world-class standards by giving prestigious recognition to those who have achieved success in terms of success and good ethical practices.
Last years winners were Rustan Department Store, National Bookstore, Manels, Penshoppe, Dimensione, Human, Oxygen, Filipino Bookstores, Picture City and Regalong Pambahay. SM, Bench and Cinderella have entered the Awards Hall of Fame.
PRA president Roberto S. Claudio said the winners in this search would serve as models of global competitiveness, a trait every retail establishment would need to ably operate outlets abroad and compete in both local and foreign shores.
Sponsored by Philippine Daily Inquirer and SM Shoemart Inc., the contest is open to all Filipino homegrown retailers (excluding convenience stores, service establishments, food establishments, groceries and supermarkets and foreign franchises).
The company must have been operating for at least five years except for Most Promising Retailer, which must have been in operation for a minimum of two years and is duly registered with the DTI or the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The entries will be divided into four categories: full-line department store, category specialist, medium store, small store, most promising retailer and mall of the year (new category).
Any organization, company or individuals may nominate a retailer for the search. Nomination forms are available at PRA office.
