March 25, 2002 | 12:00am
Cebu Pacific has started flying thrice weekly to Butuan City from Manila on March 23, 2002 and will fly daily by March 31.
Flights are scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, departing at 10 a.m. from Manila and 12:05 p.m. from Butuan City.
"These flights will service the growing traffic of businessmen who travel to the Caraga region, a hub of industrial activity. Butuan is the trading center of the region and known for being one of the top producers of rice in the country," said Manolo San Juan, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing.
San Juan said Butuan City is also a jump-off point to other major destinations in Northern Mindanao such as Misamis Oriental and Surigao, including Siargao Island, globally known as a major surfing destination.
Before Butuan, Cebu Pacific introduced its Cebu-Clark service to connect Visayas to Angeles City and northern Luzon. Last November it started flying to Hong Kong and just this month to Seoul, South Korea.
