Capital market players ink MOA on investor educati

-
The prime movers of the country’s capital market have firmed up an agreement that would heighten awareness of the industry among the investing public and students in business schools.

The landmark memorandum of agreement (MOA) promoting and developing investor education of the domestic capital market will be signed today by the Finex Research and Development Foundation, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Philippine Stock Exchange, and the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business.

The MOA will also pave the way for the establishment of the Continuing Business Education Program on the Philippine Securities Market (CBEP-PSM), which will be the focal point of all training and development activities of the four institutions on the securities market, particularly relating to business education in the Philippines.

"The program shall contribute to the periodic review and assessment of the financial management curriculum in the country to reflect the dynamic changes and demand of the time," Finex Foundation chairman Rosario Bernaldo said. Finex, or the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, is the largest organization of players in the country’s capital market.

Finex Foundation has been in the forefront of development and implementing various projects geared towards the development and improvement of business education in the country. It has close collaboration with both the different business schools nationwide through PACSB as well as with the Commission on Higher Education.

Specifically, the program aims to: a) contribute in the periodic review, assessment and improvement of financial management curriculum in the country, specifically relating to securities market; b) rationalize training initiatives of the parties herein relating to financial management curriculum, business education and securities market in order to minimize redundancies and duplication in training content and target audience, and; c) promote awareness, particularly in the academic community, about Philippine securities market with the end in view of contributing to the development of the domestic capital market through investor education. – Conrado Diaz Jr.
