Globe Telecom launches new service

-
Leading mobile phone service provider Globe Telecom has formally launched a new service that provides a limitless array of mobile e-services that a Globe Handyphone subscriber can access anytime and anywhere without having to change phones or SIM (subscriber identification module) card.

Nicky Santiago III, Globe AVP for marketing, pointed out that myGlobe further strengthens the company’s leadership position in wireless data, having led the industry through the introduction of a wide range of value-added wireless services and special features.

In fact, contribution to wireless net revenues from wireless data services continued to increase in proportion to voice traffic, growing from 14 percent during the first quarter of 2000 to 18 percent for the same period this year.

"Over the course of time, we have introduced a host of applications. Now what we want is to capture all of them in one context and allow for top of mind customer recall. We believe that there are great rewards to always paying close attention to what customers want and value," Santiago said.

While being high-tech with an upscale appeal, he said that myGlobe is consumer-friendly.

myGlobe is organized into nine categories that would cater to the various needs of Globe subscribers. For easy referencing, all existing mobile e-services of Globe Handyphone, and those that will be introduced in the future, will fall into a particularly myGlobe category.

The nine myGlobe categories are: What’s Hot (the latest and most in demand service), News and Info (top news, sports, business, traffic, finder, daily dose), Money (mobile banking, stocks, forex), Fun and Games (icons, ringing tones, X-men games, virtual mates, Bridget Jones, life guides), Shopping (m-vending, merchants, auctions), Entertainment (showbiz news, movie and band skeds, music news, bar guides and other gigs), Communities (campus bulletin and GenTxt events), MyServices (extended phone memory capacity, scheduler), and Messaging (e-mail, text cards, chat and greeting cards).

"We’ve made it more experiential than informational. We want to define the concept of myGlobe in terms of consumer emotions. We want to show the public that myGlobe means fun and excitement," he pointed out.

For instance, Globe’s mobile banking could provide true anytime, anywhere banking that lets one to check account balances, pay bills, and so much more.

myGlobe can also be used when looking for a building, a street, a restaurant, or a store, thus, eliminating the need for directory assistance.

For relaxation, myGlobe users can have fun playing with their favorite games, look for the best buys in town or even book a seat at the cinema.
