RP-made Honda cars not affected by recall

-
Honda Cars Philippines, the local manufacturer of the Civic, Accord and CR-V models, said yesterday that locally manufactured Honda vehicles are not affected by the recall announcement in Japan.

Honda Motor recently announced a recall of 19 Honda car models in Japan, including the Civic, Accord and CR-V, manufactured in Japan from Jan. 9, 2001 to April 20, 2001. This is due to the defective wheel stud bolt that could possibly break and may eventually cause an accident. However, Honda confirmed that to date there were no reported accidents resulting from this effect.

Honda officials said the Civic, Accord and CR-V models manufactured in the Philippines do not have the said defective wheel stud bolts. Based on an early advice by Honda headquarters on the affected item, they were able to take immediate action by scrapping the shipment containing the defective wheel stud bolts and separately shipping the approved replacement part in time for production.

There is no reason to worry, Honda said adding that Philippine-made cars are free from the recall.

Honda said customers who purchased their Honda cars outside the Philippines should inquire from any Honda car dealer in the Philippines regarding the status of their units.
