PLDT provides Oracle powerful networking service

-
Telecommunications leader Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has signed a contract with Oracle Philippines to provide a powerful networking service for Oracle’s increasing demand for wide area network (WAN) bandwidth via Acasia ATM service.

PLDT’s ATM service was launched in September 2000 and is capable of combining and carrying a huge amount of data, voice and image over a single line.

Wide area network are built to provide communication solutions for organizations or people who need to send reliable, fast and safe digital information between two or more places with low delays and at low prices.

These networks enable organizations to run an integral network between their departments and offices, even if they are not all in the same building or city, providing communication between the organization and the rest of the world.

"With PLDT’s thrust of providing newer and faster networking technologies, and Oracle’s great demand for a fast, reliable and cost-effective networking service, we are convinced this partnership will set the trend in the ever-changing landscape of communications," PLDT Corporate Business Group head Alfredo Panlilio said.

Under the agreement, PLDT will provide Oracle through its Acasia ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) service with a communication solution to answer its need to exchange digital information between the Philippines and its Data Center in the United States.

Operating a converged voice-data-image network will simplify and realize cost savings in the management of overall network. Acasia ATM will meet this growing performance and bandwidth requirements of Oracle because of its fast, reliable, cost-effective and quality of service guarantees.

"We are positive that this state-of-the-art technology geared to increase our bandwidth will intensify our network performance which was affected by our recent consolidation of Oracle applications into our Data Center in the United States," Oracle IT manager John Ruero said.

PLDT is the principal supplier of domestic and international telecommunications services in the Philippines with more than six million customers. It is also the country’s leading communications provider for high-end, broadband data services.

Oracle Philippines is the leading provider of state-of-the-art global e-business solutions for Internet commerce and web applications which offers its Internet platform, tools and Internet-enabled applications, along with related consulting, education and support services, in more than 145 countries around the world. – Mary Ann Reyes
