ATI wins ANZCHAM business excellence award

-
Port and logistics firm Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), part-owned and managed by P&O Australia Ltd., won the premier "Business Excellence Award" during the inaugural Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (Philippines) - ANZ Bank Business Awards held recently.

According to the panel of judges, which included audit/management consulting firms Joaquin Cunanan PricewaterhouseCoopers and SGV Arthur Andersen, ATI "performed with sustained excellence over the last year," despite the economic difficulties.

The selection was based on the nominees’ financial performance, impact on the market, level of growth and business activities over a reasonable period of time, efficiency of its internal organization structure and environmental responsibility.

The award-giving body honored ANZCHAM member firms that made outstanding contributions to building business relationships among the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand. Originally formed as an Australian business association in the early 70s, ANZCHAM was incorporated in 1981, and in 1986, it formalized the inclusion of New Zealand. The event’s major sponsor, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (ANZ Bank), is one of Australia’s leading banking and financial services groups with a large overseas presence in Asia.

Other winners were: Business Entrepreneurial Award, Asia-Pacific Medical and Diagnostic Services Inc.; Business Innovation Award, McConnel Dowell Philippines; Business Promotion Award, Indophil and Special Environmental Award, Leighton Contractors Phils., Inc. Thirty-one companies were nominated in five categories.

ATI was nominated together with seven other companies, namely: softdrink company Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc.; engineering consultancy firm GHD Pty Ltd.; trading firm HMR Group of Companies; construction material producer James Hardie Philippines; Leighton Contractors Philippines, builder and designer of the Power Plant Mall and the North Luzon Expressway expansion; Maunsell Philippines, an engineering and consulting company involved in the North Luzon Expressway project with Leighton Cotractors, the NAIA Terminal 3 and the R-1 Expressway extension and McConnel Dowell Philippines, one of the leading mechanical contractors of the Malampaya onshore gas plant project.

ATI president and CEO Richard Barclay, expressing his sincere gratitude to ANZCHAM, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to the Philippine economy through the efficient operation and modernization of the country’s key ports and infusion of logistics technology.

"ATI is an important member of the P&O network. It will continue to draw competitive advantage from P&O International’s knowledge and skill base in port logistics, financial strength and global coverage," Barclay said.
