Rohm expands RP operations

Rohm Electronics Philippines Inc. is investing another P500 million to expand its operations in the country.

Rohm, a registered manufacturer of micro chip resistors, micro chip capacitor, large scale integrated circuits, quad flat packages and test box, is owned by Rohm Apollo Electronics Co. Ltd. of Japan, (80 percent); Singaporean Rohm Electronics Asia Pte. Ltd. (19.9 percent); and a group of Filipino investors, (0.1 percent).

Based on its application with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Rohm is planning to increase its production of micro chip resistors, micro chip capacitors, as well as large-scale integrated circuits.

Rohm’s project cost for its additional capacity to manufacture micro chip resistors has been pegged at P76.355 million. It’s annual export sales of microchip resistors are seen to hit $33.84 million.For this product line alone, Rohm is planning to hire an additional workforce of 47 people.

For its additional micro chip capacitor production, Rohm estimates the project cost at P15.035 billion with a projected annual export sales of $51.791 million.

The biggest chunk of additional investment will be use to increase Rohm’s capacity to manufacture large-scale integrated circuits.

The project cost for this product is placed at P409.544 million with a projected annual export sales of $299.768 million. Additional employment for 74 workers will be created.

Rohm’s major export markets are Germany, the United Kingdom, US, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea.
