President Macapagal-Arroyo has renewed the appointment of Eastern Telecommunications Philippines, Inc. (ETPI) president and CEO Salvador Hizon.
Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Avelino Cruz Jr. was quoted by Palace sources as saying that Arroyo is set to convey to the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) "her desire for Hizon to keep the ETPI (board) seat and his present executive position."
Palace sources said Arroyo’s preference for Hizon was based on his track record in the PCGG. Hizon, who was tapped by then PCGG chairman Jovito Salonga, took active part in the investigation of Marcos hidden wealth cases.
The government controls 30 percent of ETPI.
