TRB to hear rate hike petitions on 3 tollways
February 19, 2001 | 12:00am
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced yesterday the filing of separate petitions for adjustments in toll rates by three toll operators. Citra Metro Manila Tollway Corp. (CMMTC) and the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC), operators of the Skyway, filed their petitions for toll rate adjustment on Dec. 18, 2000 based on the interim adjustment clause of the Supplemental Toll Operations Agreement (STOA), primarily due to the significant devaluation of the peso vis-a-vis- the dollar.
The Public Estates Authority (PEA) and UEM-MARA Philippine Corp. (UMPC), operators of the R-1 Expressway or Coastal Road also filed their petition for toll rate adjustments on Feb, 9, 2001 based on the periodic toll rate adjustments clause of the Toll Operations Agreement (TOA).
The PNCC, operator of the southern portion of the South Luzon Expressway and the North Luzon Expressway submitted its petition for toll rate adjustment last September. The petition will be presented to the TRB board for its consideration in its upcoming board meeting.
The TRB has scheduled the hearing of Citra’s petition on Feb. 20, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the TRB office at the 2F Integrated Bar of the Philippines Building, Julia Vargas Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City. PEA and UEM-MARA’s petition has been scheduled for hearing at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2001.
All expressway users are enjoined to file their comments and/or opposition to the petitions before the scheduled hearing dates.
