Northwest, Cebu Pacific forge frequent flyer agreement

-
Northwest Airlines and Cebu Pacific Airlines announced yesterday that they have formed a frequent flyer program agreement that will allow Northwest WorldPerks members to earn and redeem travel award on Cebu Pacific’s flights in the Philippines.

Effective immediately, WorldPerks members will earn a minimum of 250 miles or the actual miles flown on Cebu Pacific flights between Manila and 10 destinations in the Philippines. Cebu Pacific is the Philippines second largest carrier and is known for its on-time and customer-friendly service. Northwest offers 18 weekly flights between the United States and Manila, the most service offered by any carrier in the US – Philippines market. Cebu Pacific offers convenient service between Manila and a variety of leisure destinations including Cebu, Davao, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Kalibo, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Roxas and Bacolod.

"Cebu Pacific is a valuable addition to our growing list of partner airlines," said Laurie Lofgren, Northwest general manager for the Philippines, Guam and Micronesia. "This agreement will benefit our WorldPerks members as they have now more holiday destinations from which to choose. Cebu Pacific flies to the Philippines’ top resort islands which feature some of the best beaches and vacation values in the world."

"Cebu Pacific is pleased to announce this partnership with Northwest which is the leading international carrier serving the Philippines," said Manolo San Juan, Cebu Pacific’s vice president-marketing. "We look forward to additional ways to improve service for our mutual customers."

Cebu Pacific has flown more than five million passengers since it was formed in 1996 and launched its frequent flyer program called Summit Club in July, 2000.

Northwest is the world’s fourth largest airline offering more than 2,600 daily departures with hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo and Amsterdam. With its travel partners, Northwest serves more than 750 cities in more than 120 countries on six continents. Based on statistics compiled by the US Department of Transportation, Northwest was the most on-time US airline among the seven largest network carriers for the period of 1990-1999. Northwest was the 2000 recipient of Air Transport World magazine’s "Technology Management Award." Northwest WorldPerks frequent flyer program is the highest rated US based program reviewed by Inside Flyer magazine, the leading authority on airline free travel programs, and received the special "Industry Impact Award" during Insider Flyer’s 12th Annual Freddie Awards.
