Philfoodex hails appointment of Montemayor

The Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization (Philfoodex), hailed yesterday the appointment of Rep. Leonardo Q. Montemayor as the new secretary of the Department of Agriculture(DA).
Jesus T. Tanchanco Sr., Philfoodex president, expressed confidence that Montemayor "would succeed in his task of developing our agriculture industry which is the biggest frontier of our national economic development."
"This is the first time that a secretary of agriculture comes from the farmers sector. We have high hopes that Sec. Montemayor will champion the cause of agriculture and succeed in his work of alleviating the plight of our countrys farmers who constitute the mass base of the Philippine society," Tanchanco said.
Tanchanco, who was former food minister and administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA), also hailed the appointment of Rep. Angelito Sarmiento as presidential adviser on agricultural modernization.
"Montemayor and Sarmiento are a perfect team in providing programs that will enhance the full growth and development of agriculture which is the life blood of our economy." Tanchanco added.
