Ayala gets high marks

Ayala Corp. figured prominently in this years Review 200 survey, a ranking conducted by the Far Eastern Economic Review of 200 leading companies doing business in Asia. The 200 are chosen from among a total of 500 companies. Majority of these companies is from the region while the balance is based outside of Asia.
Among Filipino companies, Ayala Corp. ranked highest in the area of managements long-term vision. It ranked second in financial soundness as well as being a role model for other business organizations. It placed third as far as the quality of services/products.
The four aforementioned attributes make up the core of key attributes of corporate leadership as identified by CEOs and senior managers from key Asian cities. A fifth key attribute is innovativeness in responding to customer needs.
The Review 200 survey is included in the latest issue of the respected regional magazine. More than 3,800 persons in 11 Asian countries participated in this years survey conducted in association with AT&T and Concert. The survey was administered by AC Nielsen Research from September to October. The 11 countries covered were: Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
According to Victoria P. Garchitorena, managing director of corporate affairs, Ayalas inclusion in the Review 200 is an affirmation of its efforts in the past few years. "Ayala will continue to focus on real estate, financial services, telecommunications, food, electronics, international operations its major businesses. Recently, it made significant investments in New Economy initiatives since the company believes that the Internet and wireless technology will soon change the way we live."
Nine other Filipino companies made it to Review 200 from a total of 32 local businesses institutions. Survey respondents were asked to rank companies according to the five key attributes on a scale of one to seven, win seven as the highest ranking.
