BSP warns public on fake certificates

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warns the public of individuals/firms attempting to trade "Safekeeping Receipt" or "Bank Guarantee" allegedly issued by past and present BSP officials covering certificate of gold bullion deposits for the account of certain beneficiaries in order to obtain loan or fund projects involving billions of pesos/US dollars.

Said transaction and the like using fictitious financial documents are fraudulent and the safekeeping receipt/bank guarantee being presented to the public are outright forgeries and will not be honored by the BSP Furthermore the bank is not allowed by its charter to issue such documents.

The public is advised to refer all inquiries regarding fictitious transactions of this nature to the investigation staff, cash department, BSP located at Room 301, Multi-Story Building or call telephone nos. 523-98-06 and 524-70-11 local 2388 for assistance.
