Software AG (Philippines) Inc. will introduce Tamino in an official launch to be held on Friday, April 7, 2000 at the New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati.
Tamino is the first data management system in the world capable of storing XML documents natively -- meaning that no conversion to another format is required. The road is now clear for mission-critical, transaction-intensive electronic business applications.
The system was developed by Software AG for storing, managing and processing both structured and unstructured data within the framework of electronic business applications. Thanks to this unique ability, Tamino achieves high performance that is without rival, making it ideally suited to mission-critical transaction tasks.
"Software AG's Tamino technology opens up a new dimension for electronic business," explained Jenifer Chua-Sun, acting country manager of Software AG (Philippines). "For the first time, it is now possible to achieve the same data management performance for electronic business applications that we have traditionally offered our clients in conventional IT environments."
Totally geared to the new XML Web standard, Tamino is much more than just an XML database, however. In addition to the X-Machine kernel technology -- which is the actual XML engine, the X-Node technology provides a comprehensive interface architecture for accessing existing databases. As a result, information from these databases can be mapped in XML structures.
