Century Asia set to launch 1st DSL
Century Asia Corp. (CAC), a subsidiary of Century Properties Management Inc. (CPMI), is set to launch the first DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) installation in high-rise office and residential buildings in the Philippines.
CPMI has taken the initiative to undertake infrastructure upgrades in most of the buildings it is managing. One of the main features of the infrastructure upgrades in the buildings is to increase internet bandwidth of the buildings through the introduction of DSL, a new technology.
Jose E. B. Antonio, Century Asia chairman said "We are at the small beginning of a new revolution. A revolution that will not only change how people conduct business but how people run their lives. This is the vision and we will go out and do it."
The high rate of literacy of Filipinos in English and the increasing number of computers will make internet and information technology, sunrise industries in the Philippines. "We hope to contribute our modest share in breaking the impasse in the business plan that is compelling. We are transforming our group from the traditional brick and mortar company to a click and mortal entity." Antonio added.
DSL is a proven technology that takes advantage of standard copper telephone lines to provide secure, reliable, high-speed Internet access. Unlike traditional dial up connections, DSL delivers "always on" access. That means multi-media rich websites, e-mails, and other online applications are immediately available for the subscriber, anytime. DSL also makes it possible for the user to remain on line while he continues talking on the telephone-without jeopardizing the quality of either connection.
Century Asia will make available a spectrum of speeds. Some are best for home use, while others are designed to accommodate rigorous business demands. Whether for business or the home, DSL offers unsurpassed price/performance value compared to other online access options.
The first installation in the country will be in the Pacific Star Building that has recently gone through a $1 million upgrade program. In the Ortigas Business District, the Medical Plaza Ortigas will be the first building that will have DSL installed.
In the Fort Bonifacio Global City, Essensa East Forbes, the first building to be turned over to owners this July, will soon benefit from the value added services to be provided by Century Asia.
